Finding & Finishing an Old Song

After re-listening to the work I have already posted, I remembered there were still many unfinished projects. I went back to some pieces I started some time ago and decided to finish one of them.

My Thoughts

After putting a lot of time and effort into this piece, I think that I will be giving Hip-Hop music a break and ask the listeners what kind of music they would like me to compose. Please comment here or via the contact page.

EXPERIENCE: I have composed electric music, pop music, orchestral music, but I haven’t composed Americana style music until now. Last year, during my first few days back at school, I would often visit the recording studio and just play some tunes on the piano, but due to COVID-19 I haven’t had the chance to record music with actual instruments so I have created my own recording studio online. This has been an amazing experience and it is nice to give electronic music a break for while.

EXPERIENCE: After being inspired to make more music like Party all Night, I decided to experiment more with the same genre of music, which took me roughly three weeks to complete. I really enjoyed working on this piece and I hope you share my enthusiasm with this project.

EXPERIENCE: One day I was listening to some dance music and I wondered to myself, if other artists on Spotify could do it, why can’t I? Three weeks later I composed a dance piece which I hope will stay in your head for a long time. I used a bass to create a powerful sound. I put all my effort into trying something new. Enjoy!

EXPERIENCE: This project started at school before lockdown. I was working on a mac at school when suddenly something came to mind. I immediately wrote down the tune on a pad of paper. Slowly I converted the music from the paper into the software on the laptop. This is a piece that reminds me of school, and how long to go back.

EXPERIENCE: This piece took me 3 weeks to complete. During lockdown I have had more time to work on new projects. BTS (South Korean boy band) inspired me. I researched more into BTS’s music and I strongly suggest you listen to their songs and watch their music video’s.

EXPERIENCE: I started working on this project two months ago. After a few weeks I stopped working on this and started on something else. Six weeks later I came back to this and decided to complete what I had started. This piece struck something deep inside of me, a feeling that compelled me to compose more in this style.

SOFTWARE: Garageband and Audacity.

EXPERIENCE: I worked on this piece for roughly a month. Recently I watched a few movies with lots of good synthesiser music which gave me a few ideas – for example Terminator 1 & 2 (Brad Fiedel) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (John Williams).

My Dad has also been playing me 80’s music from Depeche Mode, Human League and OMD.

After tough work I have an outcome, I hope you enjoy!

Patience – by Orlandicus March 2020

SOFTWARE: Garage Band & Audacity

EXPERIENCE: I composed this piece of music over a couple of days. I had some trouble with the bass but I got there in the end. I changed the texture and softened the piano. During mastering we compressed the bass because it was a little overpowering.
